Congratulating message from „Project Rastko“ Network president Dear friends, Every time when new node joins Project Rastko's international cultural network, there is also a certain dose of joy, pride and excitement. As for TALENTSCASTING.COM—major Internet database for acting art in post-Yugoslav areas—such feelings are above the average. This time a charming reflection of a part of social and cultural life in our corner of the world joins the family. Once I wrote these modest words of appreciation regarding... ...profession which demands enormous physical efforts, sacrifice, courage to fight time and again [...] as well as ability to live thousands of others' lives in span of one's single life [...]
It's nice to know: Serbian term for actor, glumac, comes from Ancient Slavic root ghlou-, glu- meaning "to laugh", "to joke", "to dance". We find it in Serbian mediaeval literature as early as 13th century, meaning "folk dancer", "entertainer".
Hard and often risky acting profession wasn't any different in the past for sure, but it survives and recreates collective dreams tirelessly... I don't have to add anything new today, except minor note. The rest of us-as in all important matters-will always owe to actors a bit more than we are able to give. I assume that TALENTSCASTING.COM will take next step during coming months and years, both above initial idea and our expectations--spreading conceptually and territorially, thus becoming an important cultural, professional and entertaining factor.
